Tessra

Released · VS Code extension

The local-first API client for VS Code.

Demo recorded from the extension installed in VS Code20 seconds · With sound

In the video

A {{variable}} is autocompleted into the URL, the request is sent, and a 200 OK JSON response arrives.
The Command Palette switches from local to staging, and the same request is sent again for a staging response.
In the Collection Runner one request fails with 503, and Rerun Failed runs only the failed request again.
Events from a text/event-stream response appear as they arrive.

Workspace

Collections, environments, variables, history and the response viewer share one workspace inside VS Code.

Notes

Working now
Build, send and inspect requests inside VS Code. Environments and variables, collection runs, scripts, response compare, code generation, cURL/OpenAPI/Postman import and export, and WebSocket connections are supported.
Stays local
No login, no cloud sync, no telemetry. The only network traffic is the API requests you send. Requests and metadata are stored as local JSON; protected secret variable values go to VS Code SecretStorage.
Video
The window is a real recording of the extension installed in VS Code; captions, camera moves, the pointer and the soundtrack were added afterwards.
Status
Published on the VS Code Marketplace.
